Amor Chiquito has been having dreams and nightmares lately.
Her dream a few days ago:
“No, please, no, mine, my pen, my pen…” At that point, she reached for her pen and slapped me without meaning to!
She loves to write. Don’t you dare steal her pen, not even in her dreams!
Unfortunately, Amor Chiquito is having nightmares too. She keeps waking up crying. It seems like, at first, she can’t wake up. I hug her and tell her everything is ok and it does not help for the first few minutes. It is as if she does not hear me, as if I was not there. Some nights are worse than others. On some nights, it does not happen at all.
Any suggestions? Do you handle your children’s nightmares differently?

Awww, we ask Nahum if he sees pictures when he sleeps and then if he is scared we try take out the scary thing, name it, like is it a lion? no lion, go away to your jungle! okay, you are safe!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to me, how early they dream. We could see Younger Bro & The Boy dreaming as early as a week old - sucking on nothing while they slept, obviously dreaming of food.
ReplyDeleteHard to say how to deal with the nightmares. The Boy has them quite frequently, which is why we've pretty much given up the whole "sleeping by himself" thing. He's not verbal enough to convey exactly what he was dreaming, but we know he's upset. We just hold him and hug him until he feels better. Don't know what we're going to do with Younger Bro, who hates being cuddled...
